  • Rich emerald to dark green coloured
  • Wide bladed
  • Suited for high-traffic regions
  • Grows in partial shade to full-sun areas
  • Adds to your property’s aesthetic value

Installation of New Sod

Our sod delivery services are on-time. New sod delivered from Nor’west Sod Ltd. is high in pH and fertility levels. Here are a few basic instructions to follow for proper sod installation and care of your lawn:

  • Remove debris/weeds
  • Prepare the top soil with lime and low-nitrogen fertilizer
  • Install sods up and down (unless the slops are very gentle)
  • Water sods thoroughly every day
  • Keep traffic away from sods for 2 weeks
  • Mowing is recommended 2 weeks after sod installation
  • Remember – “Green Side Up”

Bluegrass Lawn Maintenance

We recommend the following tips for a healthy lawn:

  • Watering
    • Frequent shallow watering should be avoided
    • Water once or twice a week in the absence of rain
    • Give the lawn at least one inch of water – usually achieved in one hour with a sprinkler system
  • Mowing
    • Mow at least once weekly
    • Keep mower setting high – never mow closer than 1 ½” to 2 ½”
  • Liming
    • Can be done anytime of the year – fall season is recommended though
    • Apply 50 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. once per year
  • Fertilizing
    • Apply 10 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. once per year
    • Ideally:
      • 10 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. of 25-5-5 and 30% SCU in late May
      • 10 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. of 12-18-12 and 40% SCU in late July
    • In case of no rain within 24 hours of fertilizing, water thoroughly
  • Hydro Seeding
    • Keep traffic away for at least 8 weeks
    • Light watering, twice daily works best, but beware of run off.
    • Once turf is established (no bare soil visible, usually 6 weeks) proceed as with sod
